Harmons Deploys Simbe’s Tally Robots to Enhance Store Operations

The Tally robot will collect real-time shelf data during its daily rounds, delivering more accurate inventory insights to Harmons than traditional fixed-camera systems.

Harmons Grocery is changing its store operations by deploying autonomous Tally robots from retail tech firm Simbe. These robots are active in 17 Utah locations, where they autonomously scan shelves to track inventory and verify pricing, freeing up store teams and improving shelf accuracy.

The initiative aligns with advancements to Simbe Vision, the company’s AI-powered computer vision platform. The system combines cutting-edge visual AI and the Store Intelligence platform to help store teams make faster, smarter decisions in real time.

Simbe’s technology analyses real-time data from over 60 billion retail shelf images, with projections to double that volume, supporting better-informed decision-making for retailers worldwide. Its deep learning engine provides SKU-level accuracy across 18 million products, allowing it to distinguish subtle product variations and ensure pricing integrity at scale.

The Tally Spot robot uses real-time shelf data from its daily routes to provide more accurate inventory insights than fixed-camera systems. It removes the need for rigid workflows and adapts to changes in the store layout. The system can scan 5,400 items per hour and finds significantly more out-of-stock items than manual checks.

Unlike systems that merely identify issues, Simbe Vision recommends the next best actions based on business impact, enabling store teams to prioritise high-value tasks. This shift from reactive troubleshooting to proactive execution enhances labour efficiency and drives measurable improvements across store operations.

The use of Tally robots also improves the customer experience. By keeping shelves well-stocked and prices accurate, shoppers face fewer issues with missing or incorrectly priced items. This helps make shopping easier and more reliable, supporting Harmons’ goal of providing convenience and building customer loyalty.

“Retail leaders are combining advanced computer vision with our Store Intelligence platform to unlock execution excellence,” said Brad Bogolea, Co-Founder and CEO at Simbe. “This is how they’re gaining a real competitive edge in today’s dynamic retail landscape.”
