Top Drone Delivery Companies Shaping Last-Mile Logistics

Top Drone Delivery Companies Shaping Last-Mile Logistics

From Amazon and Walmart to Manna and Skye Air, these 10 drone delivery services are redefining CX, bringing speed and convenience to a new level.

Packages once crawled through cities on congested roads. Now they fly overhead, rewriting the rules of speed, access, and expectation. In the race to make ‘instant’ the new normal, drone delivery is far more than an upgrade to logistics. It’s a glimpse of a world where distance disappears, and the sky becomes the final mile.

Back in 2013, Jeff Bezos unveiled Amazon’s vision for 30-minute drone deliveries, igniting a tech race that’s still in full throttle. In 2024, Amazon and six other organisations have been selected to take part in a trial looking at expanding the use of drones in the UK. The country’s Civil Aviation Authority, or CAA, announced that the experiment will involve integrating drones that fly beyond the visual line of sight of their operators into UK airspace.

“Our goal is to make drone operations beyond visual line of sight a safe and everyday reality, contributing to the modernisation of UK airspace and the incorporation of new technology into our skies,” said Sophie O’Sullivan, Director of Future of Flight at the UK CAA.

Fast forward to 2025, and we’re seeing real-world results, inventory accuracy skyrocketing to 99.9%, labour hours slashed by thousands.

Today, there are 140 drone delivery startups across the globe, including Zipline, Skyports, Flytrex, DroneUp, Workhorse Group, Volansi, Wing, Skye Air, Matternet, and Manna Drone Delivery. Sixty of them have secured funding, and 17 have raised Series A or beyond. The US leads the charge with 49 companies, followed by India and the UK. And the demand for this disruptive last-mile delivery is growing day-by-day.

A study shows that 76% of global consumers are ready to switch from traditional methods to drone delivery. In India, that number hits 92%, compared to 53% in the US. From last-minute birthday gifts to urgent medications, customers want it fast, and drones are delivering literally.

Harrison Shih, Head of Product at DoorDash Labs, says, “Autonomous delivery will help shape the future of local logistics.” Walmart is also scaling its drone operations to reach millions more, confident that customer demand isn’t just rising but actually here.

Here is a spotlight on 10 drone delivery services that are changing the rules of last-mile delivery.
