Amazon has launched three AI innovations to enhance the logistics and delivery experience for customers, employees and delivery partners. The advancements are generative AI mapping technology known as Wellspring, an AI-powered demand forecasting model, and new agentic AI capabilities for robotics.
Amazon stated, “While these systems work behind the scenes, customers will certainly experience their benefits: more accurate delivery locations, faster shipping options and improved availability of the products they want, when they want them.”
Wellspring will improve delivery accuracy for customers. It maps millions of locations by integrating data from multiple sources such as satellite imagery and customer instructions, aiding drivers in navigating complex areas.
The system has mapped 2.8 million apartment addresses to their corresponding buildings and identified convenient parking locations at four million US addresses.

The AI-powered demand forecasting model predicts customer preferences and streamlines inventory placement. It incorporates variables such as weather and holidays to enhance product availability.
The model has improved long-term national forecasts by 10% and regional forecasts by 20% for popular items, leading to faster deliveries and reduced carbon emissions, resulting in improved CX.
The technology is currently being used by Amazon’s operations networks in the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, with plans to extend its reach in the near future.
Amazon Robotics is also developing agentic AI capabilities, enabling robots to understand natural language and perform tasks autonomously. This technology will transform how robots such as Proteus, an autonomous mobile robot, operate in fulfilment centres, allowing them to assist with heavy lifting and complex tasks.
The company’s attention to practical AI applications demonstrates its focus on solving real-world logistics challenges and improving the overall experience for all stakeholders involved in the delivery process.
