Convenience retail chain Circle K has opened its first European location dedicated exclusively to electric vehicle (EV) charging. Located in Gårda, close to Gothenburg’s city centre in Sweden, this site features 10 ultra-fast charging stations and a convenience store covering 100m2.
Circle K European Operations and Global eMobility EVP Hans-Olav Høidahl said, “Our new location at Gårda marks a significant step in our ambition to win the EV customer – offering easy and convenient charging with a complete retail experience.”
“With ultra-fast chargers, great food and beverage options, Wi-Fi and ample seating, the site has been designed to meet our customers’ needs. It’s a safe harbour on the road, and a clear step forward in our ambition to be the preferred on-the-go charging destination across Europe.”
The new store is strategically positioned adjacent to Sweden’s E6 motorway, which sees over 100,000 vehicles each day and is surrounded by more than 10,000 employees working in the area.
The store offers an assortment of fresh food items, including pizza, kebab, and sausage, while the ten 400 kW charging points are capable of replenishing an EV’s battery from zero to 80% in roughly fifteen minutes.
Following the launch of Circle K’s substantial EV charging hub in Järna, Sweden, the Gårda store’s opening continues the company’s expansion in this sector.
