Community Health Network is migrating its IT infrastructure to Azure in a bid to optimise operational efficiency and data security.
Nuance Communications, a subsidiary of Microsoft, has announced that Community Health Network, a health system operating 200 sites in central Indiana, is adopting the Nuance Dragon Medical platform and implementing broad Microsoft Azure cloud services. This initiative aims to transform healthcare delivery, enhance patient experiences, reduce costs, and improve outcomes.

Community Health Network is migrating its IT infrastructure to Azure. This move aims to optimise operational efficiency and data security, improve clinical information-sharing, and stimulate healthcare innovation and research. The network is implementing the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system on Azure, broadening the use of Azure Virtual Desktop, and enhancing data security with Azure-based Microsoft Defender services.
In addition, the Community will benefit from the extensive network of developers, consultants, and partners available on the Azure Marketplace, which enables the discovery and deployment of a wide array of vetted healthcare solutions and services to accelerate innovation.
Community Health Network is expanding its use of DAX Copilot and Dragon Medical One to enhance clinical efficiency and documentation workflows. Recently, the network increased the number of clinicians using DAX Copilot integrated with Epic to 400.
This tool automatically drafts clinical notes during both in-person and telehealth visits, helping to reduce clinician burnout and improve patient experiences. As part of the broader suite of Dragon-based solutions, DAX Copilot enables healthcare organisations to adopt a new generation of AI-powered clinical documentation applications at scale while leveraging existing investments in the Nuance Dragon Medical platform. Dragon Medical One, a cloud-based speech recognition solution, acts as a workflow assistant and documentation companion, allowing clinicians to document clinical visits in the EHR efficiently and securely.
