John Lewis Launches Rapid Delivery Pilot with Uber Eats

John Lewis’s tie-up with Uber Eats taps into the rising demand for rapid delivery in the UK, offering customers greater speed and flexibility while expanding the retailer’s last-mile capabilities.

John Lewis is partnering with Uber Eats to introduce a pilot programme, offering a rapid delivery service for customers looking for nursery, premium beauty and gifting items. The pilot programme will be available within an 8km radius of John Lewis stores in Leeds and Stratford, east London.

The pilot aims to gauge customer demand, buying patterns and the logistics of rapid delivery before considering a broader national launch.

The selection of 150 products, including items such as the retailer’s popular hand-held fans, emergency baby bottles and last-minute gifts, can be delivered to customers in as little as 30 minutes through the Uber Eats app.

Stella Winklewska, Category Lead, John Lewis, said, “Our pilot with Uber Eats will make it easier than ever for customers to access the John Lewis products they love, delivered to their location within the hour.”

“It’s an exciting strategic step to reach a new audience, and helps ensure that we’re there for our customers when they really need us – however they choose to shop with us.”

This initiative aligns with the growing trend of consumers seeking quick delivery options, as evidenced by the increase in retail sales through Uber Eats.

Alex Troughton, EMEA Retail Head at Uber Eats, said, “We’re seeing significant growth in retail on Uber Eats as customers look to get everything from beauty products and gifts to baby essentials delivered in minutes.

“By combining John Lewis’ product range with Uber Eats’ technology, we’re helping customers get easy access to everyday items and premium picks alike. By working together, we’re excited to bring the best of the British high street directly to our customers’ doors.”
