PayIt Improves Property Tax Payments for Residents

PayIt and the Tax Office will continue to add features to MyHarrisCountyTax that make more services available online, reduce resident support needs, and accelerate revenue collection. 

PayIt, a provider of digital customer experience solutions for state and local governments, has partnered with the Tax Office of Harris County, Texas, to implement an updated property tax payments system.

The digital government platform MyHarrisCountyTax was implemented in just over 100 days and is intended to simplify property tax payments for residents while supporting County efficiency. Since its launch in Fall 2025, MyHarrisCountyTax has processed more than 468K transactions and enrolled over 185K resident profiles.

Annette Ramirez, Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector, said,  “We are committed to modernising how residents interact with our office, improving the resident experience, and better serving the people of Harris County.” 

Ramirez added, “Since its launch, Harris County residents were able to pay their property taxes easily and from anywhere — and our team improved our operations through simpler financial management.”

Through MyHarrisCountyTax, taxpayers can pay online for up to 300 properties at a time, schedule and make partial payments, sign up for bill reminders, and see previous platform payments in a single place. Early user feedback highlights the platform’s usability and its support for multi-property management.

Beyond online payments, MyHarrisCountyTax supports the Tax Office’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and Point of Sale (POS) systems, creating a unified payments ecosystem across digital and in-person channels.

For staff, PayIt offers modern administrative tools that enable them to view transaction details across channels and services, monitor digital adoption, and forecast real-time revenue collection, improving operational efficiency. 

The platform integrates with Harris County’s existing back-office systems and scales to support high transaction volumes — a critical capability for large jurisdictions managing billions in annual collections.

Recently, the ability for residents to apply for a delinquent payment plan and enrol in recurring monthly payments was added to the platform — and the option to make prepayments for the 2026 tax year will be added in the Spring, offering residents more tools to stay on top of their payments.
