Carrefour Belgium Launches Carrefour BuyBye

Carrefour Belgium teamed up with Reckon.AI to leverage their patented AI-driven smart cabinet technology, enabling a fully autonomous shopping experience.

Carrefour Belgium has developed a new autonomous micro-store concept, Carrefour BuyBye, in association with Reckon.AI. The company has opened its third location at the NATO SHAPE base in Casteau, near Mons. This store offers over 250 everyday essentials—including fresh fruit for breakfast, meals for lunch and dinner, and personal care items—available 24/7 and stocked by the Carrefour Market team in Casteau.

Powered by AI, customers can simply pick up items and go, with charges processed automatically. Additionally, Reckon.ai has secured a European patent, confirming the uniqueness of its core technology behind these AI-driven smart cabinets.

“Being granted with a European patent is a huge milestone for our team and is a powerful validation of what we’ve always believed in and worked for: the uniqueness of the core technology behind our AI-powered smart cabinets,” said Ana Pinto, CEO at Reckon.ai.

“We’ve been pioneers in this space – one of the first to create and deliver truly intelligent, autonomous retail units – and this patent reinforces our role as innovators shaping the future of unattended retail.”

“This recognition adds a new layer of strength and trust for our partners, investors, customers, and fuels our ambition for what’s coming next. Thank you to everyone who’s been part of this journey, from the very beginning to where we are now. We’ve told you – we’re just getting started.”
