Gopuff Taps xAI to Launch AI Shopping Assistant for Discovery

Gopuff is personalising product discovery with an AI shopping assistant that anticipates customer needs and simplifies the purchasing process.

Gopuff has launched Go, an AI-powered shopping assistant designed to personalise product discovery and streamline the customer shopping journey. Developed in collaboration with xAI, the capability combines conversational AI, predictive recommendations, and real-time contextual insights to help customers find and purchase products more quickly.

According to Gopuff, the assistant uses data from hundreds of millions of orders, along with real-time signals, to understand customer preferences, anticipate shopping needs, and generate personalised product recommendations before customers begin browsing.

“Thirteen years ago, we bet that instant delivery would change the world and we built the infrastructure to enable that vision. Today, we believe the greatest friction left in commerce is not delivery or instantaneous access to the essentials customers need. It’s the moment before: the thinking, the deciding, the remembering. So, we’re combining Gopuff’s demand intelligence with xAI’s frontier reasoning to create an everyday shopping experience that feels like a true extension of you,” said Yakir Gola, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Gopuff.

Personalising Product Discovery

The new assistant creates a suggested shopping cart when customers open the Gopuff app, using factors such as order history, location, time of day, and behavioural patterns. The company said the goal is to reduce decision-making effort and enable customers to complete purchases more efficiently.

Go also introduces a visual shopping experience that combines content and commerce through personalised product recommendations presented in context. Recommendations adapt to local events, weather conditions, and customer interests to make product discovery more relevant and engaging.

According to Gopuff, customers can interact with the assistant via voice or text to request recommendations based on dietary preferences, budgets, occasions, or meal ideas. Suggested products can be added directly to carts within the conversation.

Bringing AI into Everyday Shopping

The company said the assistant is designed to remove friction from the shopping experience by helping customers move from inspiration to purchase more quickly. By combining predictive intelligence with conversational interactions, Gopuff aims to create a more intuitive and personalised customer journey.

The launch reflects growing retailer investment in AI-powered shopping experiences that use customer data, contextual signals, and conversational interfaces to improve product discovery, increase engagement, and simplify purchasing decisions.
