Rugs.com Launches AR App to Transform Home Shopping

Rugs.com has launched a new mobile app featuring AR visualisation, visual search, and design tools to simplify and personalise home decor shopping.

Rugs.com, an online home furnishings retailer specialising in rugs and home decor, has launched a new mobile app designed to make home decor shopping more intuitive and personalised through augmented reality (AR), visual search, and AI-powered design tools.

Available on iOS and Android, the app gives shoppers access to more than 100,000 rug designs while introducing features that help customers visualise products in their homes, discover matching styles, and receive tailored recommendations.

The launch marks a significant milestone for the retailer as it continues investing in digital experiences that reduce friction in the customer journey.

Bringing Personalisation to Home Shopping

The new app aims to address common challenges in home furnishing purchases, such as visualising products in a space and identifying designs that match existing decor.

“The new app showcases Rugs.com’s broad commitment to making browsing and buying seamless. Not only can shoppers browse by colour, size, and design, they can see how rugs will look in their homes with the new update, all on their phones,” said Andrew Haltom, Director of Customer Success, Rugs.com.

Key capabilities include AR-powered room visualisation, allowing customers to preview rugs at true scale within their homes before purchasing. The app also offers visual search functionality, enabling users to upload photos and find similar products from the retailer’s catalogue.

Enhancing the Mobile Customer Journey

Rugs.com has also introduced colour palette search, professional styling guidance, AI-generated review summaries, and integrated order management tools within the app.

Customers can browse promotions, track deliveries, manage returns, and save wishlists in a single interface, creating a more streamlined shopping experience.

The launch reflects the growing role of mobile commerce in retail, as brands increasingly use immersive technologies and personalisation tools to improve customer engagement and support purchase decisions.

The app also includes the retailer’s existing customer benefits, including free shipping and 30-day free returns, helping create a more convenient and lower-risk shopping experience.
