BMW Launches In-Car Payments For Fuel And Parking Across Germany

Past payments and refuelling processes can be tracked anytime through the vehicle’s service or the My BMW app.

Drivers in Germany can now pay for fuel directly from their BMW vehicles equipped with Operating System 8, 8.5, and 9 at participating service stations. This feature will soon be available for vehicles with Operating System 7 as well. Over 500,000 BMW customers in Germany can use this digital payment method.

The “Refuelling Payments” service allows users to find nearby petrol stations that support in-car payments by selecting the “Search petrol station” tile. Users can also set a check mark for online payment in BMW Maps settings. Upon arrival at a petrol station, the driver confirms the station, selects the pump number, and completes the process by choosing “Activate and pay now”. Notifications are sent to the central screen and via the My BMW app to start refuelling.

Past payments and refuelling processes can be tracked anytime through the vehicle’s service or the My BMW app. This integration simplifies managing fuel expenses and provides a seamless experience for drivers.

BMW customers can also pay for parking directly from their vehicles across 12 European countries, with more regions to follow. The vehicle recognises applicable parking zones and displays the payment function if covered by connected providers. Payment is made using stored debit/credit card details in the My BMW app, and bookings end automatically when leaving the parking space.

The “Services & Store” tab in the My BMW app allows users to manage active bookings, view parking history, and update payment methods. This feature enhances convenience for drivers navigating metered parking zones.

Single Sign-On Functionality

The Single Sign-On functionality enables drivers to access multiple merchants through one login, streamlining the payment process. Customers need to log in with their BMW ID and activate “Parking Payments” and “Refuelling Payments” services once in their vehicle.

A QR code displayed on the central screen allows users to enter payment details via smartphone. This setup ensures a smooth integration of payment services within the vehicle’s system.

Collaboration with Parkopedia

The BMW Group collaborates with Parkopedia to provide and expand these parking and fueling services. Parkopedia helps drivers find and pay for parking, EV charging, fuel, and tolls across 90 countries.
