Samsung Turns Old Street Station into ‘Fold Street’

Alongside the Samsung station take over will be a series of art pieces, including a single decker London bus folded to 90 degrees.

Samsung has taken over Old Street Station in London and renamed it Fold Street Station as part of a campaign promoting its Fold and Flip phone models.

Developed by creative agency Taylor Herring and St Marks Studios, the work marks the launch of the tech giant’s Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 phones.

Undertaken in partnership with TfL and Iris, ‘Fold Town’ sees the station name signage, ticket gateways, escalators and platforms all taken over by Samsung until 25 July.

“Welcome to Fold Town! To celebrate the arrival of the new Galaxy Z series we wanted to flip East London upside down with a series of unexpected activations, including the renaming of Old Street to Fold Street,” Samsung Electronics Marketing and Omnichannel Director UK/Ireland and Head of MX Ireland, Annika Bizon said.

Samsung has a heritage of innovation, from folding glass in our Galaxy Z Series, to folding buses and iconic landmarks. We are so excited for consumers to experience our unique Fold Street activation across East London.”

Alongside the station take over will be a series of art pieces, including a single decker London bus folded to 90 degrees. A red phone box, bench and lamppost have been given a similar treatment.

Transport for London CustomerDirector, Emma Strain added, “We are delighted to be collaborating with Samsung again to bring ‘Fold Street’ to London.

“Partnerships like this help us and brands positively engage with the hundreds of thousands of people who pass through our stations in a fun and playful way, while still ensuring they can use our network safely.”
