Velon, HBAR Foundation Partner To Create A Dedicated Web 3.0 Platform

Road Code to offer cycling fans digital collectible options and pro team content, fantasy gaming and performance tracking.

Velon, the professional cycling organization owned by the sport’s top teams, has agreed a partnership with the HBAR Foundation to create a dedicated Web 3.0 platform.

Road Code will offer cycling fans, teams, and riders a single digital community on the Hedera public hashgraph network. Hedera, which uses the native $HBAR token, claims to have a limited carbon footprint and has adopted environmental sustainability by committing to carbon-negative network operations.

Velon says its new platform will feature in-game assets, digital collectibles and team access tokens for users to retain in their own digital vaults. Road Code is being built by the Reality+ gaming studio alongside Danish venture studio Immortal Projects and will also feature Web 3.0 fantasy gaming with digital assets that fans can trade.

In addition, the cycling organization will use its deep links with teams to deliver behind-the-scenes content featuring top riders and its renowned on-bike footage from races.

Seeking to tap into cycling fans’ passion for data, Velon’s proprietary live system will be integrated with Road Code, delivering new insights into how athletes are performing in races.

The platform is also creating a new rider ranking system based on the strength of the field in an array of categories across sprints, climbs, one-day racing and grand tours. Amateur riders can also compare their performances with elite cyclists directly.

Graham Bartlett, Chief Executive of Velon, said: “Our mission is to create a first-of-its-kind platform that grants access to the most relevant and exciting cycling content for fans and sports lovers around the world. Road Code’s mission is to bring the best from the teams to the fans by creating a new community the fans can truly be part of. We want to invite everyone to participate in building the digital cycling universe of the future.”
