JetBlue has announced a major update to its boarding process, introducing a new numbered system designed to simplify boarding and improve the overall customer experience.

Starting 29 April 2026, JetBlue will replace its current lettered boarding groups with a more intuitive numbered system to reduce confusion at the gate and make the process easier for passengers to follow.

The airline stated that the change is intended to streamline boarding, provide clearer communication during announcements, and better accommodate premium passengers while maintaining efficiency for all travellers.

JetBlue is set to roll out this update just ahead of the busy summer travel season, aligning with its broader efforts to enhance the overall travel experience.

New Numbered Boarding System for Simplicity

The revamped system simplifies the boarding procedure by eliminating the previous branded groups.

Instead, passengers will be assigned to one of eight numbered groups, with each group corresponding to specific passenger types and seating arrangements. This update aims to reduce the confusion passengers often experience when determining when it is their turn to board.

Here’s a Breakdown of the New System:

  • Group 1: Includes Mosaic 3 and 4 members, along with Mint class passengers
  • Group 2: Includes Mosaic 1 and 2 members and those who have purchased EvenMore extra-legroom seats
  • Group 3: Credit card holders and select fare types that include early boarding perks
  • Groups 4–8: General boarding, assigned based on seat location

The new system ensures that the boarding process remains organised while also accommodating passengers with special needs.

Passengers with disabilities will continue to have access to pre-boarding, while families travelling with strollers or car seats, as well as active military personnel, will be allowed courtesy boarding.
