OnQ expands its Converge platform with IBM AS/400 integration to connect real-time inventory data with in-store retail experiences and digital merchandising.
OnQ has integrated IBM AS/400 inventory management systems into its Converge retail platform to connect real-time inventory data directly with in-store digital experiences.
The integration enables retailers to align digital merchandising, promotions, and interactive retail displays with live inventory conditions across store environments.
According to OnQ, the capability is designed to close operational gaps between retail inventory systems and customer-facing digital experiences by ensuring displayed products and promotions reflect actual in-store availability.
The company stated that the platform can automatically suppress out-of-stock items, prioritise available inventory, and align promotions with products that customers can purchase immediately in-store.
IBM AS/400 systems remain widely used across major retail organisations for inventory, transaction, and supply chain management operations.
OnQ confirmed that the AS/400 integration has moved beyond pilot deployment and is now in use across Costco’s network of 610 US club stores.

According to the company, the AS/400 integration enables retailers to create more responsive and operationally aligned customer experiences across physical store environments.
The integration supports:

- Dynamically suppressing unavailable SKUs
- Aligning promotions with live inventory conditions
- Reducing friction between discovery and purchase
- Improving operational accuracy across stores
OnQ stated that integrating directly with AS/400 systems allows Converge to operate alongside existing retail infrastructure without requiring retailers to rebuild core inventory systems.

The platform also enables remote monitoring of deployed retail devices, store-level content management, and engagement analytics across multiple retail locations.
