The partnership between Starbucks’ and Mariott Bonvoy’s loyalty programs benefits customers who use both brands’ services.
Starbucks customers who are travelling often seek out the familiar green-and-white mermaid logo in or near hotels where they’re staying, so it makes sense that the coffee giant and Marriott Bonvoy are connecting their loyalty reward programs. Members who link their accounts can earn double Starbucks Star points during their stays at participating Marriott hotels, and 100 Marriott Bonvoy points when they make three qualifying transactions during designated weeks throughout the year (the first Marriott Bonvoy week runs July 8-14).
“Marriott Bonvoy’s commitment to enriching moments for their customers aligns with Starbucks’ customer promise to uplift the everyday, making them the perfect loyalty partner,” said Kyndra Russell, SVP, North America Chief Marketing Officer at Starbucks, in a statement. “We’re continuing to develop our Starbucks Rewards program, and through this new collaboration, we are excited to offer members even more value and enhanced benefits through travel experiences.”
To promote the new partnership, the companies have launched a sweepstake for members that link their accounts, offering a Grand Prize of a visit to each Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Seattle, Milan and Tokyo, with a stay in a participating hotel and airfare included. Additional prizes include trips to each of the Roastery cities as well as 500 chances to win hundreds of Bonus Stars from Starbucks.
“We will truly satisfy our members’ passions for coffee and travel with the opportunity to earn more points and Stars while travelling and at home, and later this year by bringing those passions together when we introduce exclusive coffee- and travel-themed experiences on Marriott Bonvoy Moments,” said David Flueck, Global Head of Loyalty, Cards and Enterprise Partnerships for Marriott International in a statement.
